Wicked Snow. And Rubbish Titles.

Yeah, so my weekly post thing hasn't quite worked out, but I'm only three days late, so it's not too bad. Quite a few things have happened since I last wrote, and the best thing was Wicked. No, I don't mean wicked, I mean the musical. I went to see it for my third time on Wednesday, on a staff training day, and I took my friend Lucy for her Christmas/Birthday present. We went down to London and had a lovely picnic in Hyde Park, despite the rain, and then wondered around Victoria before going into the theatre.

Now, I must admit that, even though I still really liked 'Wicked', I thought that I had moved on by now. The last time I saw it was 26th March last year, and my main obsession ended around May. Since then, I have fallen in love with loads of other musicals, and when I went to see it this time I was still totally obsessed with 'Doctor Who', so altough I expected to enjoy the show, I thought that would just be it. I was wrong.

As soon as we got into the theatre, the joy and excitement just started to take over. So much so, that I was actually shaking. By the time the ouverture started, I was shaking so uncontrollably that I'm sure the people sat next to me must have thought there was some sort of earthquake. What made it even better was that, despite having bought tickets for the back of the circle, we were allowed to move forward to the middle of the circle (where the tickets cost a lot more) for free because it wasn't full up. It was fantastic! I had goosebumps throughout the entire show, but I was most affected during 'Defying Gravity'. By the end of the song, when the interval started, I was hyperventilating. Seriously. I had forgotten to breathe properly, and thought I was gonna faint. Luckily I didn't...

Even though this was my third time of seeing it, it was the first time that I had witnessed the full effect of Elphaba flying during 'Defying Gravity'. The first time I saw it, I wasn't paying full attention (I wasn't particularly looking forward to seeing it that much the first time- it was only after the second time that I fell in love with it...) and we were down in the stalls and to the side, so it didn't have all that much of an effect on me. The second time I saw it, when she started going up, Kerry Ellis (who plays Elphaba) got stuck in the lift and shouted for the show to stop. It was scary for the audience, let alone her, but still she came back on afterwards- without the flying, she just stood on the floor with the rest of the cast- and performed the last part of the song so amazingly- there were no words to describe it. Simply phenomenal. So this time was the first time I had actually seen her fly, which kinda surprised me, because I had seen clips on Youtube from the Tony Awards and the Royal Variety Performance, but this time I realised she actually looks like she was floating! Amazing.

I'm going to stop talking about 'Wicked' now. As you can probably tell, I'm back into my old obsession again. So away from green and onto white... (I know, I know... Terrible...)

SNOW! Just writing the word makes me feel a bit sick now actually. Sunday afternoon it started, but by Monday morning there wasn't much left. We went to school as normal, but at break the school announced that they were gonna close at 2 o'clock and wouldn't re-open until Wednesday. The train people didn't bother waiting until 2- last time something like this happened we got stranded at school because the trains stopped running, so this time we left as soon as we could, just in case. Therefore, I ended up getting home at 13:15. Fantastic! When Dad got home last night, we went out and did some sledding, then got chips on the way home. Today I woke up to bright sunshine and a clear blue sky- which has unfortunately turned grey now- but we still have at least 3 inches of snow. Whilst I love the snow, and think it's really pretty, I am quite tired of it now to be honest. It's all the News is talking about- as if we can't look outside and see it for ourselves. Ah well, I can't complain. It meant I got to spend the two worst days of the week at home, didn't it?

And that's the end of another pile of waffle from me for one week. Bye!
